Favorite Things Friday: Taking #SelfTeas with DAVIDsTEA Fall Collection… Plus a DT Giveaway!

Favorite Things Friday (7)

It’s a common known fact… I’m a DAVIDsTEAaddict. I drink tea from DAVIDsTEA every single day. I have never, in my entire life, started the day with a cup of coffee… EVER. I wake up each morning, get started with my day, get the kids off to school and daycare, make myself a cup of tea and then get started for the day. You see, for me tea isn’t a caffeine. I drink a mixture of rooibos, herbal and…

For You I Am Thankful

For You I Am Thankful

For You I Am Thankful

Today is Thanksgiving in Canada and I’m feeling thankful for all of you. I started Sew Creative in January 2013 while I was on maternity leave with now 2 year old, Turtle. I had no idea what a huge impact my blog would have one my life, how many incredibly interesting people it would introduce to me and how it would lead me to leave my job and start my own business, West Coast Creative Company.…

20 Minute Start To Finish Scone Recipe for Two… or One

20 Minute Start To Finish Scone Recipe for Two… or One

20 Minute Start To Finish Scone Recipe for Two... or One Perfect for last minute entertaining.

My first memory of eating scones was at high tea in Victoria, BC when I was 6 years old. We were visiting my great aunt and my mom, sister, Aunt Gert and I went out for a very proper, Victorian high tea. I remember the clotted cream, the strawberry preserves, drinking tea from beautiful teacups while trying to stick my pinky finger out. I remember feeling special and important and like I was…

Wordless- Road to Blissdom and Hanging Out With Jamie Oliver

Our road to blissdom begins with a plane trip from Vancouver to Toronto

Sew Creative is on the road right now heading to Blissdom in Toronto. First leg of the trip? A flight with my friend Karen from She’s Gone Digital from Vancouver to Toronto.

Our first morning in Toronto had a very early morning wakeup call. It was so worth it though. We went to see Jamie Oliver at the Marilyn Denis show. We were up at 5 am Toronto time which is 2 am Vancouver time.

In studio with my friend Karen getting ready to see Jamie Oliver.

Unfortunately, this is as close to a photo of Jamie Oliver as I got. No photos allowed once filming starts. Bummer. One word to describe Jamie? Dreamy.

Yes, he is just as handsome and charming in real life as he appears on TV, maybe even more so. I once again am crushing on Jamie Oliver

Yes, he is…

Easy Peasy Peaches Canning Recipe Perfect For Beginners

Easy Peasy Peaches Canning Recipe Perfect For Beginners

Easy Peasy Peaches Canning Recipe perfect for the beginner cannerIt’s hard to believe that my whole foray into canning only started a month ago. I took a food preservation class at my local community centre and after years of wanting to start canning I was hooked. I think I really just needed someone to tell me how easy it was and that I wasn’t going to kill anyone if I did it wrong. In one month I have canned over 60 jars of food. Peaches (20 pounds), Spicy…

DIY Paper Wedding Bouquet and Matching Flower Girl Barrettes- Cricut Design Space Star Challenge

DIY Paper Wedding Bouquet and Matching Flower Girl Barrettes- Cricut Design Space Star Challenge

I have to try making this on my Cricut Explore for my Wedding! DIY Paper Bridal Bouquet and Matching Flower Girl BarrettesI love weddings. There is something so magical about witnessing two people committing to each other for the rest of their lives and celebrating their love. As much as I love weddings, I don’t like attending weddings as a guest. I have some weird, social phobias and I much prefer attending weddings when I have a task. I’d much rather be put to work and have a job during a wedding than sitting…

Cast Iron Skillet Peach Puff Pancake Recipe

Cast Iron Skillet Peach Puff Pancake Recipe

Cast Iron Skillet Peach Puff Pancake Recipe a delicious summer and fall breakfast treat, perfect for brunch entertaining

I love this time of year. Summer has always been my favorite time of the year, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve become a bit less tolerant of the heat. I love late summer and early fall because the weather is still beautiful, but the temperature seems to cool down a bit (bye bye noisy AC). Something else that I love about this time of the year is the wonderful produce that comes from the Okanagan.…

(Mostly) Wordless- Fun at Hopcott’s Meadows Maze

Sew Creative Trip to Meadows Maze
A few weeks ago, over Labor Day weekend, my good friend Heather (the blogger behind Mother Your Business) invited the kids and I to join her and her family to Hopcott’s Meadows Maze. The Hubs and I took the kids last year, but this weekend I was san husband… the last thing in the world that I would usually do is take the kids to a family attraction, as a single parent, on a long weekend, but I…
